Did you know that Only Curls all began with the Curly Hair Towel? It’s still one of our best sellers and it’s not hard to see why. A soft and gentle towel that combats frizz and adds definition, it’s an essential part of your curly toolkit. The smooth microfibre material makes a world of difference to curls compared to regular towels, plus it absorbs more water, which means shorter drying times. What’s not to love?!

In the curly world, you may have come across the terms “plopping” and “micro-plopping.” Our Microfibre Towel is perfect to use for these techniques. Let us show you how!

The Microfibre Towel Method

Method 1: Plopping (Wrap)

The regular size Microfibre Towelis designed to be snug and secure on your head when wrapped in a turban style, with a button and loops attached.

  • After applying your stylers (e.g. Hydrating Creme and Gel) on wet hair, lay the towel on a flat surface with the button at the top and facing outwards.
  • Gently flip your head forward so your curls fall in the middle of the towel. Then grab the top of the towel and bring the button to the nape of your neck, over your hair.
  • Wrap the towel around your head and twist the ends, tying the loop over the button at the back.
  • Leave the towel on for a few minutes before diffusing or for a whole evening, whatever works best for your curls!
  • You can also add a bit more Gel on damp hair when you remove the towel for extra hold and definition.

Method 2: Micro-plopping (Scrunch)

  • After applying the Hydrating Creme on soaking wet hair, use the Microfibre Towel to gently scrunch your hair to remove excess water and define your curls.
  • Hold each scrunch tightly for 3 seconds before releasing. You’ll see your curls take shape in beautiful, smooth curl clumps.
  • After this, apply the Gel to lock in the curls and add hold.
  • You can do an optional final scrunch with the Microfibre Towel after adding the Gel to remove more water and speed up your drying time.
  • Leave to air-dry or diffuse.

Whatever your preferrred method of drying your curls, you need the Microfibre Towel as part of your routine for perfect curl definition with minimal frizz.
