Why Winter is So Hard on Curly Hair
The change of seasons is often a curly girl’s worst nightmare. During winter, your hair faces a constant double-whammy: the bitter cold, wind-swept air outside has very little moisture, and the central heating inside dries your curls out even further. Because curly hair is naturally prone to dryness, this constant shift in temperature zaps hydration, leaving your hair brittle, frizzy, and desperate for moisture.
To make matters worse, traditional winter clothing is rough on textured hair. Standard wool and cotton beanies, thick scarves, and chunky jumpers act like Velcro against your fragile curl patterns. This friction causes severe tangles (especially at the ends of your hair), leads to breakage, and squashes your volume into flat, fuzzy "hat hair."
